The MIC just released a report on the stunning growth that the two wheeled market has seen in the last 5 years. From 2003 to 2008, according to the MIC, while the US population rose by 5%, the motorcycling population rose by 19%. The hard #’s are about a total of 1.5 million new individual households have been added to the rolls of those who have a two wheeled vehicle. What is interesting, is if you look at the scooter segment of the sales market, scooters account for over 600,000 new units, aguably the scooter market is responsible for 30% of the growth of the overall two wheeled market. Pretty Cool!
“…imagine motorcycling today, picture a population greater than that of New York City (the residents of Moscow, Seoul or the entire state of Michigan) all on two wheels.”
