More then 100 scooter riders rally in Santa Rosa, CA

It’s always a spectacle when you gather a large group of scooter riders for a city ride, but this time it brought more then just smiles from the riders. Not only was the entire city excited to see the swarm ride by, but the event also raised more than $9,000 for Big Brothers Big Sisters of the North Bay.

The Motorcycle Industry Council of Irvine estimates that on-highway motorcycle sales dipped 10 percent between 2006 and 2008. During the same period scooter sales climbed 68 percent.

“Clearly it’s a trend, not a fad,” said Roy Gattinella, who with his wife Johnna opened their Revolution Moto Vespa dealership more than five years ago. Without a doubt, Scooter Rosa’s 4th rally was a big hit.

This is a new dawn in the age of scooter riding, for sure.
